Most kids don’t like to do the same routine especially during exercise. I didn’t like it when I was still young. But during my time we can get away with morning exercise at school but we still can get enough exercise during the day. We walked to school and some of us live a little bit far that they need to wake up early in the morning and walked for 30 sometimes 40 minutes to go to school.
The recent improvement of transportation and the addition of tutorial classes during weekends became an obstacle to exercise. Children of today goes to school by bus, car, motorbikes and that limit the amount of exercise.
Every school has morning exercise but it is boring because the music and moves are the same everyday. The students didn’t like it and some of them didn’t even care to move their body or choose to be late.
Our school realize the problem and did something about it. They it fun for the students.
How did they do it?
Planning is the key. The leader assign a teacher to prepare a song with a lively tempo, prepare the choreography, sometimes they imitate the movements of the animals, or birds. The teacher in charge should be creative in making the choreography easy to follow and fun to do. Music and choreography should be change after one or two weeks depends upon the difficulty of the exercise. The idea works really well. After a few weeks I see more kids go to school early to join the fun in exercise. The teachers enjoyed a lot too.
