Night at Dan Lu Square. We often come and visit this place for relaxation and shopping every time we go down to Wenzhou City. Dan Lu Guang Chang or Dan Lu Square is quite famous for foreigners around Wenzhou because this place has DL Supermarket that has imported western stuff. The square has Pizza hut, Papa Jones, Trust Mart, a shopping mall and Watsons. Aside from that it is also a good place to spend the night with the family. My wife and daughter love this place because they can have a good time riding this electric car for 10RMB per 15 minutes. It has some rides and toy house where children can have fun.

This is my skywatch submission for this week. Check other skywatchers from this site.

My summer vacation is finally over and I am back to work. I spent most of the time at home with my family. I did some studying and help build the website of a friend. I had fun together with my family visiting the zoo together with my daughter. It was her first time at the zoo and we were so amazed that she wasn’t afraid of the animals that she met there. I could see her expression that she was so happy to meet all the animals that she saw on her picture cards.

We were treated with a very nice performance of the birds at the sanctuary, feed the giraffe and the pigeons, visited the lion and the tiger and was having a good time together.

We are looking forward for our next visit to the zoo.

Some photos from the zoo.

My wife is “trying to have a habit of reading her Bible everyday” as what I see. When she gave birth to our daughter, Jaxy, she reads her Bible every morning. Jaxy grew seeing her mom and I reading much. By the time our daughter knows how to speak, she will ask for books. Reading book (she’s actually browsing them) is the first thing our daughter would like to do after she wakes up in the morning. I and my wife were really amazed and happy about her habit. In fact, we bought a lot of picture books for her. Every time she has a new book you could see her excitement and eagerness to learn what’s in the book.

Jaxy loves her books. Yet after several months of browsing, learning the same pictures, the same context, and the same books, she started to tear them apart. My wife noticed that our daughter is having fun now of tearing her books after a few minutes of browsing. We try to tell her not to do such things but it didn’t work so well. So her mom gathered all the tattered pages of her books, patiently glue them in the right place and keep them.

One afternoon our daughter was trying to dig in her toy cabinet and found a paper bag. She managed to pull the bag out of the cabinet but the paper bag gives way and the books scattered on the floor. She then discovered that it is full of books so right away she grabbed one book to another book with a loud voice saying “Wow books”. Upon seeing the scene and hearing our daughter shouting with excitement, my wife doesn’t want to miss this event…We never stop buying books for Jaxy. We could see a lot of progress in her learning. Another batch of books we bought for Jaxy and the same thing happens after a few months; its either the pages are gone or the pages are full of colors and stickers. I bet kids are like that but someday she’ll learn to take care of her books and treasure every pages of it.

Kids have different ways of expressing themselves, letting the adults know that they are growing up. Our Jaxy is interested on almost everything I do. She is now responsible of closing the laptop after I turn it off and she is also responsible on turning on the power of my laptop every time we have our morning and evening worship and she considers it as her daily chores. Recently she is interested on playing my guitar.

I went home from work and found my wife and my daughter taking turns of wearing their shoes. My wife told me that Jaxy was trying to wear all her shoes. She keeps on telling Jaxy to return the shoes to the shoe rack but Jaxy won’t listen to her. Jaxy tried everything on including my formal shoes and my running shoes. Jaxy only stops wearing our shoes when she found her mommy wearing her shoes.

Even though sometimes Jaxy made a mess in the house but we are happy because we know that she is growing up and learning at the same time.

It Shoe time.

We are thankful that God has taking care of us throughout these 6 years of marriage and we are now going on seven and more years to come.

We renewed our vows to love each other more, to have more patience and understanding with each other and to let God be the guide and the foundation of our marriage.

The Chinese way of getting married has many different practices. I admired the way the groom has to go to the bride’s parents and ask their daughter’s hand. To me it is a sign of respect. After that, the couple are now ready to go their new house where the friends and family members of the groom are waiting. Then it is followed by a big feast.

To us marriage is a very sacred part of life. It is actually a symbol of taking another challenge, choosing the life time partner, being with each other for the rest of our lives.

Jezjo are wishing the best of the newly wed couple.

CONGRATULATION Lani and Xiao Jun.

Looking a toy for our daughter is somewhat a challenge to me and my wife. We have to consider many things to make sure that our daughter will be safe and that the toys that we choose for her would somehow help develop her skills.

Last week we are trying to find a toy for Jaxy to improve her gross motor skills. We passed by our local toy shop downtown and were so happy to find a toy reindeer for Jaxy. We named it Niko since Jaxy also likes the movie “The flight Before Christmas.”

Niko – the reindeer was created by Innovative Toys. It is made of rubber and it’s soft that most kids will like it. When we showed it to her she was so happy and started playing on it. She fell down many times at first, that’s why my wife and I take turns of watching her. We make sure that she is on a safe side of the bed. After few days she knows how to ride Niko.

We are so happy that she love the toys that we give.

Jaxy and Mommy with Niko the reindeer

Few days ago we were walking downtown when suddenly Jaxy tried to run and wanted to go on her own. We noticed that her eyes were fixed on the the toy store ahead. Since she really insisted on going in to that store we decided to go with her and see what toys she likes. She then picked up a big rubber ball, bigger than her size and carry it out of the store. I went to the counter and paid the ball. It was not part of the budget but since our daughter wanted it, we bought it.

Few minutes ago we discussed on the things that we need to consider before buying toys for our daughter and I wanted to share it with you.

1. Is it necessary? Sometimes we buy toys because the children wanted it. Boys always wanted to have a new toy car or a new toy gun even if they already have one.

2. Is the toy safe? Safety first. Our principal in the kindergarten always emphasize the safety of the kids at all times.

3. Is it useful? Every toy must lead to improve the skills of the child.

4. Is it durable? Consider the quality of the toys before buying them.

5. Is it worth the price? Some toys are not worth the price. This part needs to be considered carefully.

These are the things we consider before buying toys next time.
